Deforest F5 |
I picked up this DeForest F5 at the 2012 Charlotte radio meet. This radio has the same chassis as the other two F5's shown here. |

Deforest F5 with Speaker |
Lee DeForest is one of the people credited with inventing the vacuum tube. This radio is one of the last his company built and features an internal speaker. The tubes in the radio are DeForest DV-2 and DV-5 Audions. This radio was made on May 11, 1925 according to the inspection signature on the inside of the cabinet. |

This photo shows the condition of the cabinet top prior to cleanup. The back and sides were not quite as bad.

Here is a look at the front panel after the face and knobs had been cleaned up.
|
Here is a close-up of the copper DeForest logo found on the top and inside lid of the cabinet.

Federal Ortho-sonic F-10 |
This radio is a beautiful example of Federal's tendency to mechanically over-build their radios - this 7-tube beauty is heavy and will last a long time. After going through restoration in my shop I think it turned out to be a very beautiful radio! |

You can see here the difference in the metal after the cleaning and polishing is completed.
|
Here is a look at the chassis after being cleaned up and re-installed into the cabinet.
|
The radio came with a complete set of matched tubes in the set!! The tubes are all dated identically on October 6, 1933 from the Radio Service Laboratory in Rome, New York and are all working.
